BASSETERRE, Saint Christopher (St Kitts) and Nevis – Delegates from across the world, including Governors, Deputy Governors and other experts in the field of central banking, will convene this week at the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) in Bird Rock, Saint Kitts.
The ECCB is hosting the ECCB@40 Global Conference in collaboration with the Central Banking 2023 Autumn Meetings from 8-10 November under the theme Fit for the Times: Building Resilience and Embracing Innovation. The 5th Annual Conference with the ECCU’s Licensed Financial Institutions (LFIs) and the 2023 ECCU Bank of the Year Awards will also take place during the period.
The ECCB@40 Global Conference and Central Banking Autumn Meetings are focusing on the following tracks: Greening the Financial System and Fintech, both on Wednesday, 8 November; Reserve Management and Central Bank Digital Currencies, CBDCs for short,
both on Thursday, 9 November; and the LFI Conference on 9 and 10 November. On the sidelines of the Meetings, ECCB Governor Timothy N.J. Antoine will host a Governors’ Breakfast for his counterparts.
The Opening and Closing Ceremonies, Plenary Sessions, the Green Financing track and the LFI Conference Open Session will be livestreamed on the ECCB Connects Facebook page and YouTube channel.
The 2023 ECCU Bank of the Year Awards Ceremony, the ECCB@40 Global Conference Cultural Exposé and Cocktail Reception are slated to be livestreamed from 6:00p.m. on Wednesday, 8 November, in front of the Honourable Sir K. Dwight Venner Building. The 2023 ECCU Bank of the Year Awards will recognise commercial banks in the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union (ECCU) for their exceptional performance in Customer Service; Corporate Social Responsibility; Financial Education and Empowerment; Support to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises; and Technological Innovation.
The Cultural Exposé will feature the ECCB Chorale, who will perform songs from their recently launched album, “ECCB@40 – Celebration and Thanksgiving”. Other acts to be featured include the ECCB@40 Models, EBJ Harmonics and dancers from the Okolo Tegremantine Arts Theatre.
Colton T will provide the entertainment for the evening and will certainly perform the ECCB@40 Song, “ECCB 40, Feel de Riddim!”, a well-known and loved song that plays regularly on radio stations across the ECCU. ZIZ, the national broadcasting station of Saint Kitts and Nevis, plays the song featuring Colton T at 11:00a.m., 3:00p.m. and 8:00p.m. daily.
The final day of the Global Conference, Friday, 10 November, will be focused on networking, sightseeing and socialising, giving the attendees the opportunity to discover more of the beauty of Saint Kitts and Nevis, strengthen and deepen networks, towards building resilient and innovative nations, fit for the times.
